How to magnetize your minis

If you too, at all times, have never been able to choose between a cold peach or lemon tea, if you still have doubts about Charmander or if you are still hesitating about your ideal job in the SIMS, this brief tutorial is for you. We will explore together how to avoid making choices by keeping as many possibilities open as possible on your wonderful Rhino AND Razorback that you have lovingly acquired. Here is what you will need (note that there are probably some alternative methods, I am only suggesting one possible solution among many others): Your box containing the sprues of your vehicle


A manual drill and a bit (ideally the same diameter as your ...


… Magnets (here the magnets are neodymium and are 2mm in diameter) you can find them - usually - at your local hobby shop.


Quick glue (here cyanoacrylate)


And all your usual hobby tools


Before we start, to prepare all the pieces we will establish a wonderful action plan that can guide us in the next steps. To do this, I like to use the instructions that come right out of the box and simply draw the different places where you need to intervene later. These plans are not necessarily final but give us an idea of ​​the scope of the project.


Once these plans are made, we can move on to the part preparations as usual by removing the traces on the plastic left by the bunches. Once this step is completed, I recommend that you test your drill on a cluster end and put a magnet in it to make sure that the diameter is the right one, ...


Wonderful, it fits puuuuuur...(Moaw)...fectly. Now we just have to follow the plan we have made in the instructions to magnetize everything. Here's how I did so that I could have the different armaments of the Razorback, the side doors that can be opened, the hatch of the Rhino that can be opened and the removable front metal bar. Note that as long as the magnets are flush with the plastic, even if you can see them, once undercoated and they will no longer be visible. Here are some snapshots of the process:
